This blog is waaaaay too serious! I'm told I'm quite a serious guy. I don't want to come across as someone who is overlyinto literature and the arts etc because that's not really me! I'm quite against people being overly enthusiastic about things; there is always a limit. The worst thing parents can do is latch onto some theme their children are interested in and make everything in their life about that. That is overkill in extremis. So yes, I don't want to appear like I have some great obsession with anything in particular. But I digress.. how cliche!
So I was just scrolling through my first couple of posts and saw way too much text, very dry and deep content, and nothing very imaginative- all of which would put off most people- not good! I'm not naive in thinking everyone is going to want to read my blog but if anyone does, I don't want them to regret it. So I'm going to talk about some things which are a little less serious. Promise!
The problem with trying to make my blog humorous is my sense of humour; no, it's not that bad, it's just quite specific. When I make a joke, it will often be based on something someone just said- e.g. a pun based on someone's comment or pointing out hidden innuendo (which I seem to have a knack for discovering). That's all well and good, and I have been known to reduce large groups of people to fits of laughter on occasions (let's not exaggerate, most of the time I'm the only one who finds it funny, but I do have my moments) but it's quite hard to transfer that sort of humour into a blog.
One way of combating this would be self-parody. Great, let's start making fun of me! Maybe not... It's odd that my mind relies heavily on other people for creative stimuli. In the same way I find it much easier to parody other writers, as in my poems below, than to write something original which is good. That's not to say I'm just borrowing the good bits from others; there is a great skill in parody and satire. I will however, try to formulate some of my own ideas which are interesting and funny and put them up here for entertainment! Enjoy!
P.S. Do you like the way I've put big gaps between shorter paragraphs? Makes it look less boring and it seems like I have written more! haha
hahahahahahahahahhahahahahah you are so silly!
